CD-QAS (Clinical Data Quality Audit & Action System) is a web-based data quality monitoring and reporting tool for the Canadian Bleeding Disorders Registry (CBDR). It provides hemophilia treatment centres (HTCs) with real-time, centre-level views of patient data and flags records requiring attention. The system was developed with funding from Canada's Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) through the Drugs for Rare Diseases program.

Data is refreshed nightly from the CBDR production database. When a centre resolves a data quality issue in CBDR, the affected patient is automatically removed from the relevant action list at the next refresh.

Core Modules

CD-QAS has three core modules:

  • Patient List: A sortable, filterable table of all patients registered at a given HTC, with demographic and clinical reference data.
  • Audit & Action Lists: Predefined lists that flag patients with specific data quality issues. Each list displays a badge showing a green indicator (no issues) or a red indicator with a count of currently flagged patients.
  • Patient Timeline: A visual longitudinal timeline for individual patients showing treatment plans, product usage, bleeds, outcomes, and interactions over time.

Access Control

  • Centre view (default): Users see only their own centre's patients.
  • National view: National-level users get an HTC picker dropdown and can view patients across all centres or filter to any combination of centres.

Authentication

CD-QAS is integrated with CBDR via single sign-on (SSO). Users access the dashboard through their existing CBDR credentials. No separate login is required.

Export

Every view in the system supports data export. The current filtered view can be exported to Excel, copied to clipboard, or printed. This replaces the previous workflow requiring manual report requests and custom data extraction.
